Week 10 Reflection, The Great Depression
With the success the country had during the 20’s of course we and to have a downfall, right? We couldn’t continue to possibly keep growing economically right? Well we didn’t, we eventually had that downfall, and that was the great depression in the 1930’s. In 1929 the stock market crashed hard and sent this country into a deep dive of turmoil. The New York Stock exchange experienced a lot of loss on trade after a huge wave of sell orders came their way. The average price of a share fell 12% and that is a big loss of any kind, no matter how much money you have. Over 16 million shares were sold because of the decline and the market and country suffered. You could see that all throughout the country. In 1932 Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected president and she began to try to change the tide in the country. Granted this was going to be a hard task, and things were going to get a lot worse before they got better...
